During the reign of Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty, Bao Gong served as the Prefect of Kaifeng (a title equivalent to a governor). Pang Hong was the imperial in-law (the husband of the emperor's daughter), who framed General Di Qing. Bao Gong requested to investigate the case, and Pang Hong was extremely fearful and tried to block the investigation. Eventually, the truth came to light, proving that Pang Hong had falsely accused Di Qing. Bao Gong presented the case to Emperor Renzong, but due to their family relationship, Pang Hong was released.
