Kui Hexagram

Kui. Small matters are auspicious.

Picture Comment: The upper is fire, the lower is marsh. This is Kui. The superior person unifies while maintaining differences.

Explanation in Modern Chinese:

Kui Hexagram: Divination with this hexagram brings auspiciousness for small matters.

The Picture Comment says: The hexagram has the upper character Li (fire) and the lower character Dui (marsh). Fire above and marsh below, representing separation and divergence. This is the image of the Kui Hexagram. The superior person observes this image and thus integrates what is common among all things and analyzes what is different about them.

Song Yong's River-Luo Principle Interpretation:

People are outwardly oriented, going against the path; it is difficult to accomplish things, not suitable for large actions.

Bad: Those who obtain this hexagram have bad luck, fire and water are incompatible, conflicting with each other, and all matters are difficult to accomplish.

Fu Peirong's Hexagram Interpretation Manual:

Time and Fate: When upper and lower are not connected, act properly.

Wealth: Take what others discard, there may still be small profits.

Home: It is better to move away; choose a spouse carefully.

Health: Fire on top and dampness below, very difficult to treat.

Chang Mingren's Hexagram Interpretation (Taiwan):

Kui: Represents the image of separation, rebellion, and deviation, indicating a bad omen. Disagreements, conflicts,任性 (self-will), and disharmony. Everything goes against the grain, and there is a danger of betrayal, beware of petty people.

  • Explanation: Be cautious of petty people.

[Lowest Level] Fire and Marsh Kui (Kui Hexagram) Seeking Commonality in Differences

64 Hexagrams of Zhouyi, 38th Hexagram

Picture Comment This hexagram indicates bad fortune, like Tai Gong doing business, selling pigs and cows quickly but sheep slowly, when both pigs and sheep are sold together, they are slaughtered.

This hexagram is formed by the combination of two opposite hexagrams (lower Dui, upper Li). Li represents fire; Dui represents marsh. Fire above and marsh below, contradictory and not supporting each other. Conflict leads to life, and the cycle never ends. All things differ, must have differences, and contradict each other. Kui means contradiction.

Career It is difficult to start a career, and the situation is arduous. If you can work together with mutual trust, the goal can be achieved. However, the initial success is usually for small matters. Accumulating small matters can lead to great achievements. Success comes from cooperation, failure from divergent goals. Strengthen unity, compromise to achieve communication. Most忌 internal suspicion.

Business Should approach market competition with a calm and peaceful attitude, seeking common ground while reserving differences. Do not view competitors as enemies, you can cooperate without losing your identity, avoid factionalism. Especially avoid disputes and do everything possible to prevent disasters.

Name Strive forward with sincerity. When necessary, do not completely cut off relations with villains, adopt a broad and tolerant attitude, and maintain moderate contact. For those with similar aspirations, you don't need to be completely consistent, but can seek common ground in differences.

Outgoing Smooth. You can get help from kind people along the way.

Love Both sides must be sincere. Otherwise, third parties can easily intervene, leading to marital distrust and family breakdown.

Decision Making In a state of contradiction and opposition. Must pay attention to treating life with a broad mind, peace, and softness. Only then can one be calm and gradually progress. Understand that union must have separation, separation must have union; there are differences within similarities and similarities within differences. Otherwise, extreme rigidity leads to violence, extreme clarity leads to suspicion. Violence and suspicion can be fatal.
