[Middle Lower Trigram] Earth Fire Mingyi (Mingyi Hexagram) - Darkness Turns to Light

The 36th Hexagram of the I Ching

Commentary: The time is wrong, the fortune is poor, and one cannot proceed. The bridge is broken when trying to cross the river. A benefactor becomes an enemy, and all affairs are fruitless and laborious.

This hexagram consists of two opposite trigrams: the lower one is Li (fire), representing brightness, and the upper one is Kun (earth), representing submission. Fire represents the sun; earth represents the ground. The sun sets below the earth, causing loss of light, unclear future, and difficult conditions. It is advisable to be patient, follow the right path, appear simple on the outside, and be wise inside, hiding one’s abilities and waiting for the right moment.

Career: In adverse conditions, maintain a calm mind to deal with harsh circumstances, strengthen psychological resilience, and endure various pressures. Appear gentle and cautious on the surface, but be wise and insightful internally. Leave when necessary to avoid disaster and escape danger. Prevent problems before they occur and persist in struggling through adversity.

Business: Carefully observe market trends and take action when the opportunity arises, but maintain business ethics. Even in unfavorable situations, one should take risks and move forward, especially developing in the south, which will bring great rewards.

Aspirations: Maintain a grand ambition internally, and be diligent and patient in actions. Strive in adversity, keep wisdom hidden, and in chaos, uphold justice and conceal one's talents.

Travel: It is best not to act immediately. Wait for some time and make full preparations.

Marriage: Must thoroughly analyze the other party's situation, and do not lose the big picture over small issues. Pay attention to major principles.

Decision Making: In an unfavorable state, the environment is difficult and the future is unclear. However, if one can calmly accept misfortune, one can rise and fall, and the future will become bright. Especially, one should enhance personal cultivation, remain patient, and carry out one's ambitions secretly. One can turn misfortune into good luck. If one acts carefully and is cautious at every step, one can achieve much more.
