Should you make the bed on the same day after moving in?

It is acceptable to make the bed on the same day after moving in.
Moving into a new home and setting up the bed is a very important matter. Not only should the direction and orientation of the bed be determined, but also the environment should be comfortable. Especially the direction of the head and foot of the bed is very critical. It should be set according to the orientation of the house and the eight characters (Ba Zi) of the homeowner. It should also consider whether other decorations in the room comply with feng shui and avoid negative influences. Moreover, the time for setting up the bed should be chosen carefully, selecting an auspicious day according to the calendar, so that safety and health can be ensured.

What are the traditions for the bride's family to prepare the bed?

1. Usually, the time to prepare the bed is the day before the wedding. You can refer to the lunar calendar, which will have the auspicious days for setting up the bed.
2. If the day before is not good, choose the nearest auspicious day to arrange the bed preparation. Generally, it is common to prepare the bed in the morning, and it is not recommended to hold the ceremony in the afternoon.
3. The bedding for the newlyweds is usually all red, mainly deep red, and pink is not recommended. For the items on the bed, it is customary to place eighteen items such as four sets of quilts, four sets of mattress pads, two pairs of pillows, and two pairs of bolster cushions, which are considered lucky.
4. It is very important to find a person with good fortune to prepare the bed. Usually, this person should be healthy, with both parents alive, strong in body, with a spouse still alive, and has a son or multiple children.
5. While preparing the bed, some auspicious words are recited, such as: "Laying down chestnuts, then dates, sons and daughters will not be lacking," or "Children fill the hall, dragons and phoenixes appear, wealth flows in, and grain fills the warehouse."
6. The newlyweds or their parents need to give a red envelope to the person who prepares the bed as a token of gratitude.
7. During the process of preparing the bed, relatives who are divorced, widowed, or unable to have children are generally not allowed to touch any items. On the wedding day, they are also not suitable to touch the bride, let alone sit on the new bed.
