There Are Specific Rules for Hakka People When Building a Kitchen Stove
1. Since ancient times, the Hakka people have had a reverence for the kitchen stove, believing that it governs the warmth and health of the family. They also believe that if the stove is prosperous, it means the family life is prosperous and the household business thrives.
2. Almost every household has a deity altar on the stove, either by pasting a picture of the "Stove God" or placing a "Commander Stove God Deity" tablet. They offer sacrifices during festivals to seek the protection of the Stove God.
3. Before "building the stove," they not only invite a feng shui master to choose a lucky day but also carefully consider the direction of the stove. People believe that: "If the stove door faces west, towards the direction of Xu and Hai, it leads to loss of wealth; facing south causes disputes and arguments; facing north leads to illness and disasters; facing east brings blessings and wealth."

5. It is also bad if the stove door faces another stove door, which indicates frequent quarrels within the family. If the stove door faces a Buddhist altar, it is also ominous because it represents yang opposing yin, like water extinguishing fire. If the stove door faces a well, it is a conflict between water and fire, leading to strange misfortunes, people with disfigured appearance, or internal conflicts within the family.
6. After building the stove, a lucky day is selected for the move-in. It must strictly follow the previously chosen time to "light the stove" (i.e., start using the stove). Otherwise, all efforts will be in vain. Lighting the stove requires selecting a lucky time and following a strict and complete ceremony, with some variations in local customs.
