Pregnant Women Attend Weddings, Will It Cause "Chong Xi"?

According to folk beliefs, a pregnant woman attending a wedding may cause "Chong Xi" with the bride.
In folk terms, when a pregnant woman sees the bride or attends a wedding, it is called "Chong Xi", and one of the parties will be affected.
If the bride is affected, it may lead to difficulties in conceiving after marriage, possibly taking 3-5 years to have the first child.
If the pregnant woman is affected, it may cause unstable fetal qi, leading to miscarriage or premature birth. Premature infants were easily prone to death in the past.
【Other Forms of "Chong Xi"】
On the wedding day, it is taboo for the wedding procession to meet another family's wedding procession on the way. If they meet, it is called "Xi Chong Xi", which means that one family's happiness will be taken by another, resulting in disaster. If such an event unfortunately occurs, to prevent either party from turning good fortune into misfortune, both brides are immediately made to exchange their hairpins, known as "Huan Hua", to resolve the bad luck. Additionally, if a wedding procession meets a funeral procession, it is called "Xiong Chong Xi", which is also the most taboo situation.

Is It Taboo for Pregnant Women to Attend Other People's Weddings?

According to folk beliefs, it is not advisable for pregnant women to attend others' weddings.
In some parts of China, there is a belief that red events (weddings) should not be attended by pregnant women, considered unlucky. For example, in the Xiangxi region, pregnant women are called "Si Yan Ren" (four-eyed people). Any activities such as construction, traveling for wealth, marrying, worshiping deities, or holding rituals must avoid pregnant women, who are not allowed to be present. Locals believe that pregnant women are "impure" and can disrupt wealth or pollute deities.
However, these are old superstitious beliefs, and few people pay attention to them nowadays. However, if the bride or her family is particularly concerned about such things, the pregnant woman herself should avoid attending.
【Wedding Taboos】
1. It is taboo for pregnant women and widows to enter the bridal chamber.
2. On the wedding day, it is taboo for women wearing white to enter the house.
3. People with incompatible zodiac signs should not get married.
4. The groom's parents should avoid being present during the wedding.
5. When the bride enters the groom's home on the wedding day, the couple should check the verses to see what is forbidden on that day.
6. In some places, weddings are taboo for the hall or stove; when the bride enters, the hall and stove should be covered with a red carpet.
