The meaning of the old saying "pregnant women should not visit others"
"The old saying that pregnant women should not visit others" is a traditional concept in China, which means that pregnant women should avoid going out to visit others during pregnancy. This saying actually has a certain basis and is not a superstitious statement. Because pregnant women are relatively fragile, going out to visit others is not good for their health and may also lead to unexpected situations outside, so for safety, pregnant women had better not go out to visit others.
However, in some parts of our country, during some special festivals, it is taboo for pregnant women to go out or participate in related activities. For example, during the Ghost Festival, pregnant women should not participate in ancestral worship or tomb sweeping. However, these taboos are mostly for the consideration of pregnant women, to avoid any impact on the mother and the child.

What are the precautions for pregnant women?
1. Cold or illnessDuring pregnancy, if you have a cold or fever, you should not take fever-reducing drugs, especially strong ones like aspirin.
If a pregnant woman has a cold without clear evidence of bacterial infection, such as tonsillitis, high blood pressure, yellow phlegm, or thick nasal discharge, antibiotics should not be taken. You can take some expectorant and cough medicine, but you should not take cough medicine containing iodine.
2. When having diarrhea
Pregnant women should pay more attention to their diet to avoid getting diarrhea due to eating improperly, which may lead to miscarriage or premature birth.
If a pregnant woman has abdominal pain and diarrhea, she should avoid eating for a while, and drink fluids appropriately to prevent excessive loss of water and electrolytes after diarrhea. She can eat some liquid and easily digestible food, but if it's not serious, she can fast for a while.
3. Sleeping position
In early pregnancy (1-3 months), pregnant women can sleep in any comfortable position, such as lying on their back or side. Bad sleeping positions, such as lying face down or hugging something while sleeping, should be changed.
In mid-pregnancy (4-7 months), care should be taken to protect the abdomen and avoid direct external force. If a pregnant woman has too much amniotic fluid or is carrying twins, they should sleep in a side-lying position, which makes the pregnant woman more comfortable. If the pregnant woman feels heavy legs, they can lie on their back and slightly elevate their legs with a soft pillow.
In late pregnancy (8-10 months), it is advisable to sleep in a left-side-lying position. This position can correct the right rotation of the enlarged uterus, reduce the pressure on the abdominal aorta and iliac artery, increase blood supply to the fetus, and benefit the growth and development of the fetus.
