Welcoming the God of Wealth on the Fourth Day of the First Lunar Month? When Should We Welcome the God of Wealth?

The main days for welcoming the God of Wealth are the first, fourth, and fifth days of the first lunar month, with the fifth day being the most common;
The origin of welcoming the God of Wealth on the fourth day of the first lunar month (or sometimes the fifth day) is related to the Five Manifest Wealth Gods or the Five Roads Wealth Gods: According to legend, there were five brothers who all had the character "Xian" (manifest) as the first character of their titles, hence they were called the "Five Manifest Wealth Gods." They were known for robbing the rich and helping the poor in life, and after death, they continued to punish the wicked and help the poor. There is a Temple of the Five Manifest Wealth Gods outside the An Ding Gate in Beijing. The "Cultural Wealth God," also known as the "Increase Blessing Wealth God," is often depicted alongside the Three Auspicious Deities (Fú, Lù, Shòu) and the Joy God, forming the group of Fú, Lù, Shòu, Xǐ, and Cái. The Wealth God has a white face and long hair, holding a treasure basin, from which the phrase "招财进宝" ("Bring in wealth and prosperity") originates. It is customary for families to hang this image in the main hall during the Spring Festival, praying for wealth and good fortune. The custom of welcoming the Wealth God on the fifth day of the first lunar month is related to Wang Yaobao, the richest man in Tang Dynasty Chang'an.
On the fourth day of the first lunar month, shops reopen, and early in the morning, gongs and firecrackers are sounded, along with offerings of meat and wine, to welcome the Wealth God. In the "Qingjia Lu" by Gu Tieqing, a poem by Cai Yun describes the scene of welcoming the Wealth God in Suzhou on the fifth day: "Five days of wealth, five days of seeking, one year's wishes fulfilled in an instant; beware of others welcoming the gods early, rushing overnight to embrace the road head." "Embrace the road head" refers to "welcoming the Wealth God." Merchants who believe in the Lord of Heaven (Guan Di) offer meat and wine to Guan Gong on the fifth day of the first lunar month, set off firecrackers, burn gold paper, and worship him, hoping that Guan Sheng Di Jun will protect them from good fortune throughout the year.
