"Although the White Dew (Chushu) season has arrived, the weather is still hot, like the 'autumn tiger'." The Chushu solar term has quietly arrived. What are the precautions for Chushu? What does Chushu represent? Memories of the seventh lunar month might be the coolness of the Chushu festival, or the beautiful romance of Qixi. For more information about the seventh lunar month in 2018, the special section on the seventh lunar month on Huayi Network has prepared everything for you.

What are the precautions for Chushu?

1. Clothing
It is not advisable to rush to add clothes. "Warming the body in spring and allowing it to feel cold in autumn" is a way to keep the body temperature from being too high in autumn, thus helping to consolidate yang energy. When the body's heat goes out, cold air will enter. It is cooler in the morning and evening, while the midday remains hot. When going out at night, pay attention to adding clothes to protect the yang energy.
2. Nighttime sleeping tips
During sleep, windows and doors should be closed, and a thin blanket should cover the abdomen to prevent the stomach and spleen from getting cold due to the autumn wind.
3. Indoor environment
During the day, if the indoor temperature is not high, it is not advisable to use air conditioning. Open windows as much as possible to let the air circulate, allowing the autumn's "killing qi" to remove the damp and muggy heat left in the room from summer. You can also appropriately raise some plants or goldfish to maintain the balance of air humidity.
4. Disease prevention tips
During the Chushu period, the climate changes significantly. Before the rain, the temperature is relatively hot, while after the rain, it becomes cooler. This humid and hot climate can be annoying and may lead to colds caused by wind-cold or wind-heat. Also, this is the peak season for influenza, so it is especially important to pay attention to appropriate exercise to improve your own immunity.
5. Diet
You can eat foods that are cooling and nourishing, and help strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness. If you have no acne or red face and enjoy spicy food, you can eat some chili peppers or pepper. Those who have a habit of drinking alcohol can drink a little, but white wine and yellow rice wine should be warmed up. For staple food, refined white flour is good for replenishing energy, and you can also combine it with easily digestible coarse grains. If you like dates or longan, you can eat a few in the morning to supplement blood and energy. If you like sour food, you can eat some sour food, as sour taste is mainly for consolidation.

What does Chushu represent?

Chushu is a solar term reflecting changes in temperature. "Chu" means to hide or terminate, and "Chushu" indicates that the hot summer days have ended. In China, Chushu is divided into three stages: "First stage, the eagle begins to offer birds; second stage, the earth and sky start to become solemn; third stage, the crops are ripe." During this solar term, eagles begin to hunt birds in large numbers. The world of all things begins to wither. "The crops are ripe" refers to "he" which is the general term for millet, jujube, rice, and grain, and "deng" means mature. After Chushu, except for southern and southwest China, most parts of China are about to end the rainy season, with decreasing precipitation and the ripening and harvesting of rice.
