Can Couplets Be Posted on the Spring Equinox?

It is possible to post couplets on the Spring Equinox. In China, there is no saying that there is any time when you cannot post couplets. Some families even change their couplets for each of the 24 solar terms!
The Spring Equinox is the fourth of the "24 Solar Terms" in the lunar calendar. It usually occurs around March 21st every year. According to "Yue Ling Qi Shi Hou Ji Jie", it says: "Fen means balance; this is half of the 90 days, hence called 'Fen'." According to "Chunqiu Fanlu", it says: "The Spring Equinox refers to the balance between yin and yang, so day and night are equal and the temperature is moderate." This means that the character "Fen" in "Spring Equinox" indicates that spring has passed halfway. In addition, on this day, the sun shines directly on the equator, making day and night almost equal in length. After this, the position of the sun's direct rays moves further north, and in the northern hemisphere, the days become longer than the nights. From a climatic perspective, during the Spring Equinox, the temperatures in various regions continue to rise, and the chances of thunderstorms and strong convective weather increase. There is a farming proverb: "After eating the Spring Equinox meal, each day grows longer by a line." Another one says: "When the Spring Equinox comes, the wheat starts growing, and every moment is worth a thousand gold pieces." In the ninth year of the Jiajing era (1530), an "Old Altar" was built outside the east gate of Beijing City, dedicated to worshiping the sun god. The "Old Altar" has now become one of the main parks in Beijing. In ancient times, the "She Jing" (the god of land and grain) was worshipped twice a year, in spring and autumn. The "Spring She" day usually falls within the period of the Spring Equinox, and sometimes it coincides with the same day.
