Is it not allowed to move house in the fifth lunar month?

It is allowed to move house in the fifth lunar month.. Moving house usually avoids the third, seventh, and ninth months of the lunar calendar, as these months coincide with "Qingming", "Yulan", and "Chonggong", which are all traditional "Ghost Festivals". It is not suitable to hold joyous events or move house during these periods. Usually, people choose a lucky day for moving house, preferring even days over odd days. "Shixi" refers to moving or relocating, also known as "entering the house" or "moving into a new home." In ancient times, there were a series of related activities such as "Anxiang" and "Anling," which involved enshrining ancestral deities and offering incense at the new residence. This was commonly called "Guihuo," and today, "Guihuo" and "Shixi" are collectively referred to as moving house. Whether it's "Guihuo" or "Anxiang," selecting a "Huangdao Ji Ri" (auspicious day) is certainly essential.

What should be noted when moving house in the fifth lunar month?

1. Those facing east should avoid moving on days that are the "Si", "You", and "Chou" (three metal elements). Those facing west should avoid moving on days that are the "Hai", "Mao", and "Wei" (three wood elements). Those facing south should avoid moving on days that are the "Shen", "Zi", and "Chen" (three water elements). Those facing north should avoid moving on days that are the "Yin", "Wu", and "Xu" (three fire elements).
2. There are many feng shui considerations for moving into a new home. What to take with you and what to bring into the house first all have taboos. Moving house means entering your new home, representing a fresh start in a new place. Things like firewood, rice, oil, salt, and bedding are unavoidable. When moving, you must prepare everything well, and it is best to cook in the new home on the first day at noon.
3. The moving ceremony should also be followed. This depends on local customs. Some people like to light incense when entering the house, while others prefer to set off firecrackers when moving. Many may think it is superstitious, but these customs still remain, passed down for thousands of years. People still follow them to seek good luck.
4. On the day of moving into the new house, you must boil a pot of water. This symbolizes a steady flow of wealth. If you believe in feng shui and tradition, you can also turn on the tap, adjusting it to the smallest flow, letting the water trickle continuously, symbolizing a full bowl and a prosperous home. You can also turn on the fan in the house, allowing the wind to circulate around, but do not blow directly towards the door, symbolizing "wind and water rising."
5. On the day of moving into the new house, you cannot throw away garbage. Any garbage produced in the house should be taken out after three days, following the same custom as the Spring Festival. The house is a new energy field, and during this time, you should let the pillows enter the house first. According to the number of people in the family, put red envelopes under the pillows and place them on each bed. Specific customs vary by region.
