The clothing of the Kyrgyz people, women often prefer red colors, wear short clothes, and some also wear dresses. The shirts are large and have a straight collar. The fabric clothes are simply sewn, while high-quality clothes are made with care, with silver buttons on the sleeves and front opening. Skirts are made with wide belts or folded silk into multiple pleats, forming a cylindrical shape, tied at the waist and with fur at the bottom. The inner clothing has a turned-up collar that is worn with a vest, and the vest has a very large collar, showing the inner clothing. A long coat is worn over the short clothes, mostly black, with a stand-up collar and open chest, and cotton is added in winter.

Women wear a round red silk velvet hat called "Takxi", which is covered with a headscarf. Another type of hat is called "Alichik", decorated with ornaments and embroidery. When wearing this hat, a embroidered soft cap is worn underneath. In winter, they wear "Karpak", made of felt, with a tassel on top, the hat surface made of wool or cloth, with openings on both sides, usually white. The latter two types of hats are more ancient, and few people wear them now. Women's headwear is very complicated, using "embroidered strips" to tie their braids, with several small silver coins at the end of the braid, and then connecting the two braids with a string of beads. They like to apply cosmetics on their faces, and wear jade bracelets and rings on their hands.

Men's clothing of the Kyrgyz people is also often embroidered, short clothes, and the upper garment is usually long enough to reach the waist. It has a straight collar, with floral embroidery on the collar, and tight sleeves, otherwise it has embroidery. The upper garment has a front opening with silver buttons. The inner clothing is mostly white and often embroidered. An outer vest, called "Jiajia", is worn, similar in style to women's but different in color. Men's clothing is mostly black, gray, and blue. When going out, they wear a long coat, which has no collar and the sleeves are often edged with black cloth, called "Tokchekekmen"; there are also those who wear leather coats, called "Yiqiek".

Men do not grow beards or keep hair. If they are the only son, they can keep hair before the age of ten, but not all of it; only four round or half-round tufts of hair are left on the front, back, left, and right of the head as a mark, and when they reach ten years old, this mark is shaved off.

Men's hats are mostly made of red cloth (other colors are also available), with a tassel made of velvet on top of the hat. The tassel is decorated with beads and other ornaments. In winter, they wear a fur hat.
