Merchant Banquet

This describes the merchant banquet. Usually, the boss would hold a banquet on the fourth day of the first lunar month to entertain all the staff and distribute red envelopes. After drinking, they eat buns. The boss first raises his glass to congratulate everyone on the New Year and says "you have worked hard," which is called "official language." After the official language, it's time to eat buns. The boss personally places the buns in someone's bowl, which implies that person will be fired. The person who gets fired will leave after the meal, so this meal is also called "eating the bun of dismissal." Because the fourth day of the first lunar month is the day of welcoming the gods, according to custom, it is not advisable to travel far on this day.
