Christmas is a traditional festival in the church calendar, it is a day of remembrance for Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. On Christmas Day, most Christian churches hold worship services on the evening of December 24th, known as Christmas Eve, and then celebrate Christmas on December 25th; while the other major branch of Christianity, the Eastern Orthodox Church, celebrates Christmas on January 7th each year. According to the Gospels of Christianity, Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit. At that time, Mary and her husband Joseph were on their way to register for the Roman census. From the perspective of believers, the birth of Jesus fulfilled the plan of the Messiah foretold in Judaism, as Bethlehem was the home of the family of David, the ancestor of Joseph. Christmas is also a public holiday in the Western world and many other regions, such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore in China. However, the exact date of Jesus' birth is controversial.
