The Hai period is one of the twelve traditional Chinese time periods. Why does the Hai period have another name, "Ren Ding"? What time does it correspond to? Let's follow the editor to explore this in depth.
Why is the Hai period called "Ren Ding"
Ren Ding is an alternative name for the Hai period, also known as Ding Hun. It is the last of the twelve time periods in a day and night. It refers to the time from 9 PM to 11 PM at night. The term "Hai" comes from the zodiacal system, and it can also be interpreted as a time when it is deeply quiet. At this time, the night is deep, people have stopped their activities and are sleeping. Ren Ding means "people are quiet." During this time, pigs are sleeping soundly. Therefore, the zodiac animal corresponding to Hai is the pig.

Is it good to move house during the Hai period?
Whether it is good to move house during the Hai period depends on specific circumstances, such as one's birth eight characters (Ba Zi) or zodiac sign.
If the homeowner's lunar birthday is an yang stem (such as Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, Ren), it is auspicious to choose a yin hour (such as Chou, Mao, Si, Wei, You, Hai) to move. If the homeowner's lunar birthday is a yin stem (such as Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, Gui), it is auspicious to choose a yang hour (such as Zi, Yin, Chen, Wu, Shen, Xu) to move.
If the homeowner's zodiac sign is the Tiger (Yin), Rabbit, Sheep (Hai Mao Wei three harmonies), Rat, or Ox (Hai Zi Chou three unions), then moving during the Hai period may be considered.

Can you not throw out garbage during the Hai period?
It is not allowed to go out and throw away garbage during the Hai period, which means not going out through the main door of the house to throw away garbage.
For example, in a villa or a row house, it is not allowed to go out through the main door to the courtyard to throw garbage. Here, the main door refers to the entrance before the path leading to the courtyard of the villa or row house.
In other words, for those living in an apartment building, leaving the building is considered "going out of the main door," and it is not allowed to take out the garbage outside.
However, it is acceptable to throw out garbage through a small door within the home, because garbage should be collected together overnight, otherwise it may attract mosquitoes and flies.
