June is the first month of summer.
June, in English: June; one legend comes from the Latin family name Junius; another theory is that it is named after the goddess Juno, who was the queen of the gods and the goddess of childbirth. June is the sixth month of the common year, a small month with 30 days; the sixth month in the lunar calendar is a large month with 30 days. In the Northern Hemisphere, June is the first month of summer. The solar terms in this month are Grain Buds and Summer Solstice. The weather is generally hot and it is the last month of the first half of the year.

Season of Late Summer
Summer is divided into three periods according to the order of arrival: Mengxia (First Summer), Zhongxia (Second Summer), and Jixia (Late Summer). Therefore, June is also called Jixia, and other names with the same meaning include Muxia (End of Summer), Wanxia (Late Summer), and Miaoxia (End of Summer). "Miao" originally referred to the tip of a tree branch, and later came to refer to the end of a season or time.
Month of the Dog Days
It is said that "the hottest weather occurs during the Three Dog Days," meaning that the Three Dog Days are the hottest period of the year. Since the initial and middle Dog Days mostly fall in June, June is called the "Month of the Dog Days."
Month of Heat
June is associated with extreme heat. The east wind has stopped, and the earth becomes like a steamer. The solar terms of Minor Heat and Major Heat mainly occur in June, so people call June the "Month of Heat."
Fan Shu or Ru Shu
In the humid and muggy weather, people's moods can become easily irritated. Therefore, June is also known as "Fen Shu" (Fussy Heat) and "Ru Shu" (Humid Heat).
Jiao Yue
During this time, the entire country experiences high temperatures and scorching sunlight, which seems to have scorched everything. Hence, June is vividly called "Jiao Yue" (Scorched Month).
Dun Yue
From ancient times, people have always tried various ways to avoid the heat, which is why June is called "Dun Yue." "Dun" means to avoid. June represents the desire to escape the heat and seek coolness, which is the wish of people during this month.
Tian Kuang
After the plum rain season in Jiangnan, on the sixth day of the sixth lunar month, known as Tian Kuang Festival, families open their boxes and cabinets, taking out clothes and books to air them outdoors to prevent mold. This is called "Tian Kuang," where "Kuang" means "to give or bestow."
He Yue or Lian Yue
In southern China, lotus viewing takes place in late June, with the 24th of the sixth lunar month being the Lotus Viewing Festival. On this day, there are many boats in the Suzhou and Hangzhou areas, with people dressed in flowing robes, fanning themselves like clouds, and watching the "endless green lotus leaves stretching to the sky, and the red lotus flowers glowing under the sun."
Li Yue
June is close to autumn, and as fruits begin to ripen, the most prominent among them is the lychee, which once delighted the imperial concubines. Thus, June is also called Li Yue (Lychee Month).
