Classic Analysis of Cases about Dreaming of Talking to a Deceased Person:
Case 1: I dreamed again of my kind grandmother. I asked her why the graves of others are covered with green grass, while hers is bare. She said that others used imported grass. I told her that I have a job now and also laid imported grass on her grave. (Female, 23 years old)
Dream Interpretation: If you talk to the dead in your dream, it represents longing and good fortune. Dreaming of talking to a deceased relative shows that you have endless longing. Dreaming of talking to a stranger who has passed away shows that you are more introverted and unwilling to open up to friends. Regardless of whether you talk to a relative or a stranger, your luck is generally good, and many wishes will come true.
Case 2:
People say that dreaming of deceased people does not speak, but I often dream of a deceased relative who always speaks to me. Every time I dream of her, she talks to me. By morning, I usually forget the content of the dream... Other deceased people I dream of don't speak, but only this one. What is the reason?
Dream Interpretation: You should first figure out if this relative has something special for you. Dreaming of deceased relatives represents the desire to be missed, and also reflects the inner need for help and guidance. If this relative speaks to you, it means you feel she is communicative and has rich life experience, possibly able to offer some life lessons. This is the result of communication between your subconscious and your deep analysis.
Case 3:
Last night I had a strange dream. I dreamed of my late maternal grandmother, whom I called "Old Grandma" (over 80 years old). In the dream, she suddenly came to my house and was angry because I didn't give her snacks. My husband and I were both surprised. I explained that I didn't know she was coming and there were no suitable snacks for elderly people. Then she told me that there was a bamboo splinter on her forearm, and I needed to remove it for her. I found a needle and thread and spent a long time removing a long bamboo splinter. She was very happy and said, "No wonder my hand has been hurting all along, there was such a long splinter inside!" I don't know if this dream has any meaning. After waking up, I haven't seen her for almost ten years (she passed away and I couldn't return for her funeral), so why did I suddenly dream of her?
Dream Interpretation: Perhaps you have a deep relationship with her. Actually, there's nothing wrong with it. It might be that you encountered something related to her during the day, even if it was just a passing thought or a scene from a TV show, which could make you think of a relative. It's nothing to worry about.
Case 4:
My grandfather passed away exactly 22 days ago. The last time I dreamed of him was on the 15th day after his death. He died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage, and he didn't say a word until he died. I almost didn't make it back in time to see him off, but I finally made it and stayed by his bedside until the end. Normally, I study at school and rarely visit him and my grandmother. Last night’s dream was like this: I dreamed that our family was holding his funeral. While eating, I suddenly saw my grandfather floating around in the trees in the opposite forest. I didn't know how, but I ran over to call him back to eat. That forest was sky blue, which was amazing. Then I ran into that forest and couldn’t find him. Finally, someone told me he was by the pond. I ran over and saw him. I called out, "Grandpa, come back and eat." He heard me and, despite being 70 years old, ran as fast as a 20-year-old youth and held my hand to go home. I felt so happy and felt like I had returned to childhood. We were still laughing. I asked him, "Grandpa, don't work so hard on the farm anymore." He replied, "I spent so much money buying a machine to make paper for firecrackers, and I need to make it back." (Our family is divorced. My father married another woman and went back to my grandfather's hometown to start making firecracker models. He bought a machine, and I'm not sure if my father borrowed money from my grandfather.) After he said this, I woke up immediately. What does this mean? Please tell me.
Dream Interpretation: There is no such saying. I have also dreamed like this. Talking to deceased relatives in dreams is because of deep-seated longing. Your subconscious causes you to dream of your grandfather, but according to common beliefs, it's a dream where your grandfather wants to return to see you, known as a soul-retrieval dream. After that, he can rest in peace. When people die, they often have many things they want to say, so the closest people become the ones who appear in their dreams. Saying it's a bad omen is incorrect. It's simply a matter of deep longing.
Case 5:
Last night I dreamed of being at my aunt's house when I was a child. But it was me now. I spoke to the brother beside me, but he didn't respond. Later, my aunt entered the room, and we were both very happy. My aunt asked me how long it had been since we last met. I said seven years! Later, there was also a kind-hearted grandmother holding me and smiling at me. Then I seemed to continue sleeping in the dream until I woke up in the morning. My aunt has been dead for 13 years. I said seven years, which was the month of March seven years ago, when I broke up with my only lover. The grandmother looked like a grandmother I had never met. Now I feel this dream is strange. My aunt was the only one who truly cared for me as a child. Even in the dream, seeing her made us both very happy. After waking up, I really wanted the dream to last longer so I could talk to her more. It's been 13 years, and this is the first time I've dreamed of her.
Dream Interpretation: Dreaming of deceased relatives is a very common dream, and there's no need to be too surprised. Surveys show that it is rare for deceased relatives to speak in dreams, which merely represents your subconscious longing. If they speak to the dreamer, the content of the conversation is often a hint that the dreamer hopes others would provide. Many netizens have dreamed of deceased relatives living with them as before. These dreams are very harmonious. In daily life, you may often think about what would happen if they were still alive, and such wishes are realized in the dream. Overall, as long as the dream is harmonious and happy, it is a lucky dream, indicating that you are ready to forget some unpleasant memories and rise again from disappointment.
Buddhist Perspective on Dreaming of Talking to a Deceased Person:
In the *Sutra of the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha*, the Buddha said that if future generations of sentient beings, either in dreams or upon waking, see various ghosts and spirits in all sorts of strange shapes, these spirits may be sad, crying, sorrowful, lamenting, or terrifying. What is the reason for this? These are your relatives from past lives who have come to ask for help through dreams. These relatives are in the evil realms, mainly in the hungry ghost realm, and are prone to appearing in dreams. If they have not escaped the hungry ghost realm and have not found a place to seek help, they will come to dream to those who were once their relatives, hoping they will help them escape the suffering of the hungry ghost realm. Therefore, when you see these in your dreams, you should immediately awaken, realizing that these are your distant relatives asking for help. How can you help them? By seeking the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha.
In the *Sutra of the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha*, the Buddha told Bodhisattva Pujing that you should use your spiritual power to make the dreamer understand that these are relatives from past lives asking for help. Sometimes the dreamer may not realize this and may forget or ignore it, as worldly affairs and life are already enough for them to handle. However, Bodhisattva Pujing should bestow his power to make the dreamer aware that this is not a small matter, and they must act. Let this person, in front of the images of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, sincerely recite the *Sutra of the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha*. If he cannot read it himself, he can ask others to read it for him. It should be read three or seven times. Note that since it is intended to rescue beings in the hungry ghost realm, three is an odd number, a yang number, and so is seven. Do not read it two or four times, as even numbers and yin numbers may affect the results. Read it three or seven times. By doing so, these hungry ghost beings will be liberated from the hungry ghost realm after you read it three or seven times, and you will no longer see them in your dreams in the future.
