What does the Wood element usually lack?
What the Wood element lacks depends on the birth time, and there are different situations. In the Four Pillars of Destiny, there are the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. Each of them has its own Five Elements. The Four Pillars are composed of both Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, so there are eight Five Elements. When we observe the Five Elements, we need to combine them with the Four Pillars. If all the Five Elements (metal, wood, water, fire, earth) are not missing in the Four Pillars, it is called balanced Five Elements. If one of the Five Elements is missing, then it is said that this element is lacking.
Is the Great Forest Wood element good?
The Great Forest Wood element is one of the Wood year elements in the Five Elements calculation. The Great Forest Wood element corresponds to the years of Wu Chen and Ji Si in the 60 Jiazi Nayan. The Great Forest Wood, with branches shaking the wind and trunks supporting the moon, possesses the virtue of towering into the ravines and rising high into the sky, and the power of reaching for the clouds and shading the sun. This wood grows in the southeast direction, during the transition between spring and summer, gradually forming a forest. Metal relies on the earth of Gen as its source, and the Gui Chou as its mountain. If the three elements are not broken or weakened, they are the most fortunate and powerful. Wu Chen is the best, and Ji Si is second. Earth encountering the roadside is like being a carrier. Wu Chen meeting Xin Wei is noble, and Ji Si meeting Geng Wu is a source of wealth, indicating richness. The two types of earth, wall and house, if combined with sword metal, can make the Great Forest Wood become beams and pillars, which is the most auspicious configuration. Without this, it is just ordinary trees in the mountains. Whether alive or dead, this wood always desires earth. For example, when someone born in Ji sees Jia, although it is said to transform into earth, it is better to have pure earth from Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei. If this wood is already dead at the foot of the mountain, and meets Jia Xu or Yi Hai, it will lead to misfortune or early death. The flame of the lamp, when it is in its proper position, gives mutual nourishment, and Yi Si is not as auspicious as Jia Chen. The lightning and the sun fires can both help the growth of the element, and encountering them is also auspicious. However, having both fires together is not desirable; it requires earth as the foundation. Water encountering the Heavenly River, Wu Chen meeting Ding Wei brings honor, even without earth or mountain, it still indicates having food and clothing, known as the "Spirit Boat Entering the Heavenly River" configuration. It should be born in autumn or winter and die in the stage of decline. If the stream and sea waters appear repeatedly, it leads to poverty and early death, but having a mountain helps slightly. The "Miao Xuan" (Marvelous Selection) has the "Azure Dragon Driving the Sea" configuration, where Wu Chen meeting Gui Hai is honorable, and the stream under the mountain, Ding Chou, is the most auspicious, while Bing Zi is less favorable. All kinds of metal are not suitable to meet. The sea has Yi Chou as the mountain, and the sword metal benefits from the house and wall as its base. Other metals are useless, and meeting them leads to early death or low status. Wood prefers the mulberry tree, and only Gui Chou is the most excellent. For flat land, it needs the roadside earth, meaning a forest in the wilderness. Pine and cypress trees, being in the east where wood is strong, if the pillar contains Gui Chou and is covered by pine and cypress, it is the best.
