Will the Earth element and Water element clash with each other?
According to the Five Elements theory of generation and control, the Earth element controls the Water element, so in terms of the Five Elements, the Earth and Water elements are considered to be in conflict.
Water — Water is abundant and needs earth to form a pond
Water can generate Wood, but too much Wood will reduce Water; strong Water needs Wood to release its power.
Water can control Fire, but too much Fire will dry up Water; weak Fire meets Water, it will surely go out.
Water relies on Metal to be generated, but too much Metal will make Water turbid; Metal can generate Water, but too much Water will sink Metal.
Earth — Earth is strong and needs Water to be drained
Earth can generate Metal, but too much Metal will change Earth; strong Earth needs Metal to control its excess.
Earth can control Water, but too much Water will cause Earth to flow; weak Water meets Earth, it will surely be blocked.
Earth relies on Fire to be generated, but too much Fire will scorch Earth; Fire can generate Earth, but too much Earth will dim Fire.

How to deal with the conflict between Earth element and Water element?
The principle of resolving conflicts between the Five Elements has wide applications and can be used in areas such as the Eight Characters (Ba Zi) analysis and Feng Shui layout. To resolve the conflict between two elements, it is better to "discharge" rather than "conquer." Conquest leads to confrontation. Generally, the best way is to use the "mediation" effect. For example, if Wood controls Earth, using Fire to mediate would be the best choice. This is because Wood generates Fire, and Fire generates Earth, forming a chain of generation without conflict. In this case, Fire plays the role of mediation and resolution.
