Does the Earth element dominate the Metal element?
From the Five Elements, we know that Earth generates Metal, so generally speaking, Earth does not dominate Metal. However, we cannot simply conclude that Earth will not dominate Metal. The specific situation must be determined by combining the specific birth time and eight characters.Earth can generate Metal, but when there is too much Metal, the Earth becomes soft. A strong Earth can control the excess of Metal.
Metal relies on Earth to generate, but if there is too much Earth, the Metal will be buried; Earth can generate Metal, but too much Earth will change the nature of Metal.
Wood generates Fire, because wood is warm and fire lies within it, burning out, thus wood generates fire; Fire generates Earth, because fire is hot and can burn wood, which turns into ash, and ash is Earth, thus fire generates Earth; Earth generates Metal, as metal resides in stone and mountains, nourished and generated, and accumulating Earth forms a mountain, which necessarily contains stones, hence Earth generates Metal; Metal generates Water, as the subtle energy of Metal moistens dryness and flows, melting metal into water, thus mountains and stones become moist, hence Metal generates Water; Water generates Wood, because water moistens and can generate, thus water generates Wood. The nature of heaven and earth is that the majority overcomes the minority, hence Water overcomes Fire. The essence overcomes the solid, hence Fire overcomes Metal. The firm overcomes the soft, hence Metal overcomes Wood. The concentrated overcomes the scattered, hence Wood overcomes Earth. The real overcomes the empty, hence Earth overcomes Water.
Is it good for the Earth element to meet the Metal element?
① Earth can generate Metal, but among all Metals, only Qianchuan Jin (Gengxu, Xinyou) and Shazhong Jin (Jiawu, Yiwei) can support the Lu Pian Tu (Roadside Earth). This is called "clear Water and clear Metal appearing together," which signifies great auspiciousness. Of course, if the Roadside Earth person already has Water in other pillars of their fate, encountering these two Metals also brings blessings and wealth. As for Yichou Hai Zhong Jin (Sea Gold), its nature includes mountains, and if other pillars have Heavenly River Water to assist, it is also auspicious.② For those with Wushang Tu (Roof Earth), if their fate pillar contains Jianfeng Jin (Sword Edge Metal), it is very auspicious. However, this requires that Dinghai Wushang Tu meets Renshen Jianfeng Jin, where the Tian Gan (Heavenly Stem) transforms into Wood, and the Di Zhi (Earth Branch) achieves the subtlety of Qingyi (Clear and Tranquil). For Bingxu Wushang Tu meeting Xinhai Qianchuan Jin, it is considered the transformation of Tian Gan into Water and the Di Zhi of Bing entering the Gao Fu (Heavenly Gate), making it an extremely auspicious fate. If Dinghai Wushang Tu encounters Gengxu Qianchuan Jin or Bingxu Wushang Tu encounters Guiyou Jianfeng Jin, it is an inauspicious combination. Other metals, such as Jinfu Jin (Gold Foil Metal, Renyin, Guimao), when encountered by Wushang Tu, are also auspicious, because Jinfu Jin has a decorative effect on Wushang Tu.
③ For those with Bishang Tu (Wall Earth), among all Metals, only Jinfu Jin (Gold Foil Metal, Renyin, Guimao) is favored. If the fate pillar has appropriate Wood, it will lead to wealth and power, because this Metal, paired with Earth and Wood, forms a palace that shines brightly, a feature not even the imperial court could use. However, if it encounters Jianfeng Jin (Sword Edge Metal, Renshen, Guixu), it is ominous. Other Metals are useless.
④ For all Metals, only clean and refined Metals are auspicious. For example, Xinhai Qianchuan Jin and Renyin Jinfu Jin are considered clean. If someone with Daye Tu (Great Desert Earth) encounters them and there is auspicious Water in their fate pillar, it forms a grand pattern of Heaven and Earth interacting, with water surrounding mountains, indicating great nobility. For Jiyou Daye Tu encountering Gengxu Qianchuan Jin or Guimao Jinfu Jin, it is slightly less auspicious, but still auspicious. As for Shazhong Jin (Sand Metal) or Jianfeng Jin (Sword Edge Metal), they need other fate pillars to contain Wood to be auspicious; otherwise, they are of no benefit to the individual's fate.
⑤ For those with Shazhong Tu (Sand Earth), the Earth element is weak during the seasons of Chen and Si in the Earth Branch, and its nature is not yet formed, making it refined and elegant. It prefers clean Metals to nourish it. If the fate pillar again encounters pure Earth, it indicates that the individual will achieve success early in life. Among these, Qianchuan Jin, Jianfeng Jin, and Jinfu Jin are refined and elegant. If the fate pillar contains them, it is auspicious. For instance, Bingchen Shazhong Tu encountering Xinhai Qianchuan Jin is known as "Bing enters the Gao Fu," symbolizing a long rainbow crossing the sea, a rare and noble fate.
