Historical famous people with the surname Shu

Shu Lin: From Fenghua (now part of Zhejiang Province), he was an official and scholar during the Southern Song Dynasty. He passed the imperial examination in the eighth year of Qian Dao (1172) and served as a professor in Huizhou, known as the "best teacher." He eventually served as a vice administrator in Yizhou. He was posthumously honored as "Wenjing," and had the collection "Wenjing Collection of Shu."

Shu Dan: His courtesy name was Xinde Dao, and his pseudonym was Lantang. He was from Cixi, Mingzhou (now part of Zhejiang Province), an official and poet during the Northern Song Dynasty. He passed the imperial examination in the second year of Zhiping (1065) and ranked first in the Ministry of Rites' test. He successively held positions such as the Secretary of the Secretariat, the Chief of the Censorate, and the Director of the Academy. He was later dismissed due to a crime. Later, he was appointed as the Director of the Longtu Pavilion and the Assistant Director of the Academy. He was skilled in writing small poems, with refined and delicate thoughts. Later generations compiled his works into "Collection of Shu's Poems." He once jointly accused Su Shi of composing poetry that criticized current affairs with Li Ding.

Shu Shao: From Chenliu, he was a famous scholar at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. When his elder brother Boying's relatives were killed, Shao took revenge and was caught, leading to both brothers vying for death and being spared punishment. The world praised him as "righteous."

Shu Ya: From Jingde (now part of Anhui Province), he was an official and painter during the Song Dynasty. He passed the imperial examination during the Southern Tang period and later served as the Director of the Bureau of Construction under the Song Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Zhenzong, he served as the Editor of the Imperial Library. He was good at writing and painting, and had the work "Illustrations of the Classic of Mountains and Seas."

Shu Qing: From Dexing, Jiangxi Province, he was a clean official during the Ming Dynasty. He passed the imperial examination in the Chenghua era and was appointed as the Director of the Department of Works. He successively served as the Director of the Bureau of Construction, then was promoted to the Vice Administrator of Henan and later to the Governor of Sichuan. He established a progressive tax system, greatly reducing the burden on the people. He also strongly opposed the court's demand for ancient musical instruments and other relics from local areas, earning the love of the people. He was a well-known honest official at the time.

Shu Fen: From Jinxian, Jiangxi Province, he was an official during the Ming Dynasty. He ranked first in the imperial examination during the Zhengde era and served as a compiler. After his mother's death, he returned home and died from grief. As an official, he was bold and strict, often directly advising the emperor, which led to his demotion and even imprisonment. He can be called a loyal and filial状元 (top scholar).

Shu Ming: From Zhenghuang Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, he was a general during the Qing Dynasty. During the Qianlong era, he successively served as the Deputy Minister of the Board of Rituals, the General of Suiyuan City, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Gaochang City. He was stationed in Uryasutai and Suiyuan City, managing Mongolian tribes, settling refugees, and suppressing rebels.

Shu Tao: From Xupu, Hunan Province, he was an official and poet during the Qing Dynasty. He served as the Director of the Ministry of Revenue and was skilled in poetry and prose, with works like "Green Silk Hall Prose Collection."

Shu Yuanyu: From Dongyang (now part of Zhejiang Province), he was a minister during the Tang Dynasty. Born into a poor family, he passed the imperial examination during the Yuanhe era. He served as a监察御史 (Censor), boldly impeaching corrupt officials. In the Taizong era, he successively served as the Vice Minister of Justice and the Chancellor (equivalent to Prime Minister). Later, he plotted to remove powerful eunuchs but failed and was killed. His writings were bold and vigorous, and he was skilled in calligraphy. He had the work "Record of the Jade Thread Seal."

Shu Bangzuo: From Jing'an, Longxing Prefecture (now part of Jiangxi Province), he was an official and scholar during the Southern Song Dynasty. He passed the imperial examination in the eighth year of Chunnxi (1182) and successively served as the County Magistrate of Puzhi, the County Magistrate of Shanhua, and the Judicial Officer of Hengzhou. He was fair and upright in handling affairs, and when he left office, the people wept bitterly. He had the collection "Double Peaks Miscellaneous Writings."

Shu Hede: A Manchu from the Zhengbai Banner, he was a minister of the Qing Dynasty from the Shumulu clan. He successively held positions such as the Inspector of the Censorate, the Minister of War, the Grand Secretary of the Military Affairs, and the Deputy Commissioner. He made significant contributions in pacifying the Zunghar and Hui rebellions. He eventually became the Grand Secretary.

Shu Qingchun: His courtesy name was Sheyu, and his pen name was Lao She. He was Manchu, from Beijing, a modern novelist, playwright, and outstanding language master. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as Vice Chairman of the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Writers Association, and Chairman of the Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles. He was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution and committed suicide. His major works include the novel "Camel Xiangzi," "Four Generations Under One Roof," the play "Longxugou," and "Teahouse."
