(1) What is 'Mianxiang'?
The so-called 'Mianxiang' is a science that interprets one's destiny through the observation of one's facial features. Everyone has heard the saying, "The appearance reflects the mind," which mainly means that a person's personality, mindset, and moral character can be seen from their face.
I remember once when I went to my friend's house, we were chatting at the bottom of her building when suddenly someone walked into her apartment's staircase. I said, "That person looks like a bad guy!" My friend replied, "You're really good, he just came out of prison!" In fact, from that distance, I couldn't see his face clearly, but from his outline and walking style, he definitely wasn't a good person.
The above story tells us that a person's appearance has auspicious or inauspicious qualities. A person with a kind heart usually has a kind face; a person with an evil heart usually has an evil face. However, the reverse is not necessarily true. There is a saying, "A kind face but a wicked heart," meaning someone who looks kind-hearted may actually have a wicked heart. Another saying is "An ugly face but a kind heart," which means someone who looks evil might actually be kind-hearted. In short, judging by face is a professional matter and not easy. Although some people are more sensitive and can intuitively judge some aspects of Mianxiang, it cannot fully rely on intuition to determine the fortune and misfortune of a face, and professional analysis is still needed.
There are many important tools for analyzing Mianxiang, among which the most important are the 'Five Organs', 'Three Stops', and 'Twelve Palaces'. They will be described below.
(2) What are the 'Five Organs' of Mianxiang?
People often say, "What's this person's 'Five Organs' like?" or "This person's 'Five Organs' look like this..." But they may not clearly understand what the 'Five Organs' are. Actually, the 'Five Organs' are part of the study of Mianxiang.
The so-called 'Five Organs' refer to the five human organs: 'ears, eyebrows, eyes, nose, and mouth'. In Mianxiang, each is given a specific name as follows:
