The auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of a bed's feng shui can affect the emotions and health of the person sleeping, and even influence their fortune. So, what are the considerations for placing a bed in a bedroom from a feng shui perspective? Let's introduce them below (for reference only).

  1、Bed Placement:

The bed should be placed properly, ideally in the bedroom, rather than in the living room or other areas.

If possible, the bed of the homeowner (or couple) should be placed in a room facing southeast or east, the bed of the elderly should be placed in a room facing northwest, and the bed of children should be placed in a room facing northeast. If these conditions are not met, it is not necessary to force it; it can be appropriately placed.

The bed should be placed perpendicular to the door of the bedroom, not aligned with the direction of the door.

The bed should not have a beam directly above it, nor should there be large hanging lights or fans above it.

The bed should not face a mirror, otherwise it may cause insomnia, nightmares, or negative energy affecting the person.

The bed should be able to see some sunlight.

The time of moving is determined by the placement of the bed, you can move the bed and other items to the new house in advance, place the bed in the designated bedroom, but do not fix it in place; instead, place it diagonally. When an appropriate day and time comes, adjust it together and perform necessary feng shui rituals as per local customs, which is considered as proper bed placement.

  2、Bed Head Orientation:

In general, the orientation of the bed head should be north, east, or west, these three cardinal directions. If the bedroom does not have a southern window, it can also face south, because the bed head should not face the window, otherwise it will cause loss of energy. According to the characteristics of the zodiac and the feng shui elements of the birth chart, it can also face the four secondary directions.

  According to the zodiac:

Those born in the year of the Pig or the Rat, the bed head should face north or west, and should not face northwest or southwest.

Those born in the year of the Ox, the bed head should face west, north, northeast, or southeast, but should not face northeast, northwest, or south.

Those born in the years of the Tiger and Rabbit should have the bed head face east, south, or north, but not west. Sometimes, those born in the year of the Rabbit should also avoid facing north.

Those born in the year of the Dragon should have the bed head face north, west, southeast, or northeast, but should not face northwest or east.

Those born in the years of the Snake and Horse should have the bed head face south or east, but should not face north.

Those born in the year of the Sheep should have the bed head face south or southwest, but should not face northeast or northwest, nor north.

Those born in the years of the Monkey and Rooster should have the bed head face west, southeast, or northeast, but should not face south.

Those born in the year of the Dog should have the bed head face south, east, or northwest, but should not face southeast or northeast.

According to the feng shui elements of the birth chart:

Those whose birth chart favors Water should have the bed head facing north or west, and should not face south.

Those whose birth chart favors Wood should have the bed head facing east or north, and should not face west.

Those whose birth chart favors Fire should have the bed head facing south or east, and should not face north.

Those whose birth chart favors Earth should have the bed head facing south, west, or the four secondary directions, that is, southeast, northeast, southwest, and northwest. Among these four secondary directions, there are dry earth and wet earth. If the person favors dry earth, they should face southwest or northwest; if they favor wet earth, they should face southeast or northeast. They should not face east.

Those whose birth chart favors Metal should have the bed head facing west, north, or southeast, northeast, and should not face south or southwest.

If there is a conflict between the zodiac and the birth chart, the birth chart should take precedence. If the bedroom conditions limit the adjustment according to the above preferences, or if the bed position is exactly opposite to one's zodiac or birth chart, then the bed head can remain unchanged, and the person can sleep facing the foot of the bed, so that the head faces the preferred direction.

  3、Bed Material and Color:

Generally speaking, the bed should be rectangular, not round, because a round bed contains unstable factors, which may attract romantic relationships or affect marital feelings. Beds with many corners are also not suitable, as they may harm physical health.

The material of the bed is usually wooden or metal. Some places also use earth beds or fire beds. The color is varied. According to the zodiac:

Those born in the years of the Tiger and Rabbit should have a bed made of wood or with green or blue colors, and should not have a bed made of metal or with silver, white, or gold colors. They should prefer fire beds rather than earth beds.

Those born in the years of the Snake and Horse should have a bed made of wood or with red or green colors, and should not have a bed made of metal or with silver, white, black, or blue colors. They should prefer both fire beds and earth beds.

Those born in the years of the Monkey and Rooster should have a bed made of metal or with silver, white, or earth-colored colors, and should not have a bed made of wood or with green or red colors. They should prefer earth beds rather than fire beds.

Those born in the years of the Pig and Rat should be suitable for both wooden and metal beds, and both black, blue, or green-colored beds, as well as silver and white-colored beds. They should not prefer earth-colored beds, nor earth beds or fire beds.

Those born in the years of the Sheep and Dog should be suitable for earth beds, wooden beds, or beds with earthy, red, or green colors, and should not have beds made of metal, or with black, blue, or silver and white colors.

Those born in the years of the Dragon and Ox should be suitable for earth beds, or beds made of earth and metal, or beds with earthy, black-blue, or silver-white colors, and should not have wooden beds, fire beds, or beds with red or green colors.

According to the feng shui elements of the birth chart:

Those who favor Wood or Fire in their birth chart should prefer beds made of wood, or with green or red colors.

Those who favor Metal or Water in their birth chart should prefer beds made of metal, or with silver, white, or black-blue colors.

Those who favor Earth in their birth chart should prefer beds made of metal, or earth beds or fire beds, or with silver, white, or earthy colors.

These are the considerations regarding the bed from the perspective of feng shui, based on the zodiac and the five elements' preferences and taboos. They have certain reference value, but should not be followed blindly, because a house or a bedroom is also influenced by the overall environment of the residential area. If the overall environment of the residential area is auspicious, then even if the bed has some deficiencies, it may not cause significant damage. However, if the overall environment is not auspicious, then problems with the bed may cause greater damage. The final test is practical experience. If the original bed in your home has always brought good luck, it means it conforms to your zodiac or birth chart preferences, and there is no need to make adjustments. If the original bed has caused health issues or relationship problems, then it needs to be carefully addressed and adjusted to resolve the negative influences and improve the fortune.
