2. The Eight Trigrams of Heaven and Earth
The Eight Trigrams are formed by pairing the eight directions with natural phenomena such as Heaven and Earth, Water and Fire, Thunder and Wind, Mountain and Marsh. They represent the natural phenomena of the Earth and form the essence of the Eight Trigrams.
3. Ten Celestial Stems
Each of the Five Elements is divided into Yin and Yang (5 elements x 2 yin-yang = 10 celestial stems). Jia is Yang, Yi is Yin; Bing is Yang, Ding is Yin; Wu is Yang, Ji is Yin; Geng is Yang, Xin is Yin; Ren is Yang, Gui is Yin.
4. Twelve Terrestrial Branches
There are four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, each lasting three months (4x3=12), or the Earth orbiting the Sun once, and the Moon orbiting the Earth twelve times, recorded as twelve months. They are represented by Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, and Hai.

Feng Shui Taboos of Osmanthus Trees

1. Taboo of Planting Osmanthus Trees at the Entrance
Planting an osmanthus tree directly at the entrance is a major taboo in Feng Shui! Although osmanthus trees are common plants in courtyards, with fragrant flowers and beautiful trees, the host usually does not place them at the main entrance because the entrance is the channel for wealth to enter the house. The large shape of the osmanthus tree blocking the entrance will block the flow of wealth into the house, implying the risk of losing money.
2. Taboo of Planting Osmanthus Trees in the East
Due to the homophonic relationship between "Gui" (osmanthus) and "Gui" (ghost), many people consider it an unlucky plant. The eastern part of the courtyard is the main energy area of the home. If an osmanthus tree is planted in the east of the courtyard, it implies that the family will suffer misfortune throughout the year, and there will be bloodshed every year. Therefore, it is best to plant it in the southwest corner of the courtyard.
