Method of Using the Feng Shui Compass

Measuring the direction of a fixed object:
Hold the compass level and place it close to or align the edge of the compass with the edge of the object being measured. Slide the dial so that the triangular head of the magnetic needle aligns with the two points on the red line of the compass base. Read the direction under the transparent line.
Measuring the direction of the stove:
Hold the compass level and place it close to the edge of the stove. If the stove is made of iron, it may affect the movement of the magnetic needle, so it should be moved back vertically by two or three feet. Align the edge of the compass with the edge of the stove. Slide the dial so that the triangular head of the magnetic needle aligns with the two points on the red line, and read the direction.

Is the Luo Pan a Compass?

Compass: In ancient times, it was called Si Nan. Its main components are a magnetic needle mounted on an axis. Under the influence of the Earth's natural magnetic field, the magnetic needle can rotate freely and remain in the direction of the magnetic meridian. The south pole of the magnetic needle points to the geographic South Pole. It is commonly used for navigation, land surveying, travel, and military purposes, to determine direction.
