The Titan Prometheus stole fire for humans, which allowed humans to develop rapidly, angering Zeus. He decided to bring a disaster upon humanity. First, he ordered the god of fire and craftsmanship, Hephaestus, to create a beautiful woman from water and clay, resembling a goddess. Then he asked the gods to give gifts to this human woman — Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, gave her the ability to enchant men; Athena, the goddess of wisdom, gave her the most beautiful clothes; Hermes, the messenger of the gods, gave her the gift of language. Zeus gave this woman "the source of misfortune," and named her "Pandora."
