Tarot Cards - Five of Cups

Card Name: Five Of Cups
Element: Water
Representative Color: Blue
Key Words: Sadness, Loss, Disappointment
Interpretation of the Card
Under a dark sky, a man in a black cloak is weeping over three overturned cups before him. A bridge leads to a distant village across the river in front of him, indicating that he has the opportunity to choose another way of life. The three cups are overturned, but there are two standing cups behind him. However, he does not turn around, so he will never realize that hope is still nearby, and instead, he always feels alone and helpless. If he chooses to pick up the two standing cups, cross the bridge, and start over, life can begin again. Otherwise, life will remain painful forever.
Upward/Reversed Meaning
When the Five of Cups appears, the person should be brave enough to let go and start anew, as the time for change has come. Looking back at past pain seems useless, so it is necessary to seek spiritual support. Compared with the Three of Swords, both cards have a sense of sorrow, but the Three of Swords is an inward emotion, with a self-harming thought (such as: it's all my fault, I'm wrong...), while the Five of Cups is more about external evaluation. For example, blaming fate or others, believing that the development of events is due to fate or someone else's trickery, feeling that he had no choice and was not responsible for the situation. The former, the Three of Swords, is because of taking on too much responsibility, while the latter, the Five of Cups, shifts the cause of responsibility outward, letting oneself be immersed in a sense of helplessness and disappointment.
1. Overwhelmed by regret, living in a painful state of hopelessness.
2. Partially damaged, leading to doubt in one's overall correctness.
3. There is a kind of defect.
4. Meaningless communication.
5. Deep disillusionment, beginning or already doubting one's life and existence.
