Every day changes with the alternation of day and night, and the end of a day signifies that a new day is about to begin. In ancient times, each time period had a fixed name, and the time that connects the end of one day and the beginning of the next was called "Zi Shi" (midnight). So, is Zi Shi considered the previous day or the next day?

Zi Shi is considered the previous day or the next day

According to the Western calendar, time starts at 0 o'clock, which is known as the prime meridian. This calendar is what we now know as the 24-hour system. The Eastern calendar also adopts the prime meridian concept, but there is an important difference to note. Although the East uses the prime meridian, its time units are based on the twelve Earthly Branches. The beginning of Zi Shi, which is between 11 PM and 12 AM, is not the start of the next day, but still counted as the same day. It is only after half of Zi Shi (i.e., 12 AM) that the next day begins. Therefore, we need to determine whether it is the first day or the second day based on whether it is before or after Zi Shi.

Differences between early Zi Shi and late Zi Shi birth

Early Zi Shi People born in the early Zi Shi often have an unsmooth fate. Although they themselves are hardworking, they face many challenges from destiny. Fortunately, these people can persist and actively face their lives. People often feel sympathy for them, as they have worked hard but received less than others, which seems unfair. People born in the early Zi Shi not only lack financial luck in their own lives, but they also affect the financial luck of those around them. These people often encounter financial losses, and sometimes they unintentionally drag down those around them. Gradually, these people lose the affection of others due to their financial losses, because most people are unwilling to accept or see their financial misfortune. Late Zi Shi People born in the late Zi Shi have a good business sense. These people are more suitable for business, and even small businesses can bring them good income. These people don't feel pressure when it comes to making money, which is something others envy. They focus on developing their own abilities, and people with ability naturally find things easy to handle. These people don't have economic pressure, and they usually act immediately when they want to do something.
