Is it good to give flowers on the Qixi Festival?

The Qixi Festival is also called China's Valentine's Day, so giving flowers on this day is definitely a good idea. The flowers given on this day are mostly for lovers and partners. Therefore, roses are the best choice to represent love. However, other types of flowers are also suitable. You can choose the flowers that your girlfriend likes, and you don't necessarily have to give roses to express your love. It is important to know whether the person is allergic to pollen. If they are, you must not give them flowers. It's not necessary to give roses only; you can also give chrysanthemums, baby's breath, pink roses, myrtle, fritillaries, lavender, and tulips.

Traditional foods eaten on Valentine's Day

1. Enjoy fruits
During the Qixi Festival, the Cowherd and Weaver Girl are supposed to taste fruits, hoping she will bless them with a bountiful harvest in the coming year. The offerings include tea, wine, fresh fruits, seven items (longan, red dates, hazelnuts, peanuts, and melon seeds), flowers, and cosmetics such as flower powder, as well as an incense burner. Usually, people fast and take a bath, then take turns burning incense before the offering table and silently praying for their wishes. Women not only have seven skills but also seven children, seven years of life, seven beauties, and seven loves.
2. Eat sugar cakes
In some places of China, pastry shops make some sugar cakes shaped like the Weaver Girl on this day, known as "skillful people" or "skillful cakes." When sold, they are called "sending skillful people." It is believed that people who eat these "sugar cakes" will become clever and skilled.
3. Eat "Qiaoqiao Rice"
In Shandong Province, people eat "Qiaoqiao Rice" on this day. The customs of Qixi are very interesting: seven close girlfriends gather grains and vegetables to make dumplings. They put a copper coin, a needle, and a red date into three dumplings respectively. After the Qixi activities, they gather together to eat dumplings. It is said that those who eat the coin will be blessed, those who eat the needle will be skilled, and those who eat the red date will get married early. They also call the rain on the seventh night "the Rain of Love" or "the Tears of Love," because it is caused by the meeting of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.
4. Eat Seven Treasures Porridge
At noon on the Qixi Festival, people worship the Seven Fairy Mothers. In the past, people prepared seven dishes of fruits and dishes, seven pieces of cosmetics, seven pairs of scissors, seven incense sticks, seven wine cups, seven pairs of chopsticks, and seven small paper bridges. It seems that the hospitable people of Quanzhou invited all six sisters of the Seven Fairy Mothers to celebrate the "Birthday of the Seven Fairy Mothers." The offerings are based on the number "seven," which is related to the traditional Chinese numerical thinking pattern, where "seven" is one of the yang numbers, considered a lucky number. For example, in the Quanzhou folklore, the seventh day of the first lunar month is considered the birthday of humans, and seven kinds of vegetables and fruits are used to make porridge, known as the "Seven Treasures Porridge."
5. Eat peaches
The Qixi Festival can be regarded as a love festival and a peach blossom festival. On this day, peaches are the preferred food among peach blossom foods. Peaches have a bright red color, which represents the energy of peach blossoms. At the same time, the character "peach" (桃) symbolizes peach blossoms. Eating peaches means eating the omen of peach blossoms, which is believed to bring good luck in love.
