After the layout is completed, each palace has two heavenly stems. The one on top is called the "Heavenly Stem" and the one below is called the "Earthly Branch" (some layouts list hidden stems, while others do not).
To find the position of the "Shi Gan" (hourly heavenly stem) on the "Heavenly Stem," this is known as the "Shi Gan Falling into a Palace."

"Qi Men Dun Jia" is an ancient Chinese divination text and is considered the first of the three great treasures of the Three Methods: "Qi Men," "Liu Ren," and "Tai Yi." It is regarded as the leading method among the three and is known for its most systematic theory. It is called the highest level of divination by the Huang Lao Taoist school and is known as the "Imperial Science" or the "Highest Form of Divination." Its originator is the Nine Heaven Xuan Nv. Essentially, it is a high-level astronomical physics that reveals the effects of the eight planets in the solar system and the Earth's magnetic field. "Qi" refers to the three "Qis," namely "Yi, Bing, Ding," and "Men" refers to the eight "Mens," namely "Kai, Xiu, Sheng, Shang, Du, Jing, Si, Jing."
"Dun Jia" refers to the six "Jia" in the Six Jia, which are "Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, Gui." When "Qi Men Dun Jia" was originally created, there were 4,320 sections, later improved to 1,080 sections. By the Zhou Dynasty, Jiang Shang reduced it to 72 sections due to the need for military deployment. After Zhang Liang received the teachings from Huang Shi Gong in the Han Dynasty, it was further revised and became the current "Yin Ji Ji" and "Yang Ji Ji," totaling 18 sections. This shows that "Qi Men Dun Jia" is the result of the collective research of many generations in ancient China. It includes astronomy, calendar science, military strategy, planning, philosophy, and more. Today, "Qi Men Dun Jia" is commonly referred to simply as "Qi Men," "Qi Men Dun," or "Dun Jia." There is a popular saying in folk culture: "If you master Qi Men Dun Jia, you don't need to ask anyone about the future." Nowadays, "Qi Men Dun Jia" can be applied in various aspects such as marriage, career, business, feng shui, wealth, prediction, adjustment, resolution, and strategic planning.
