Qimen Arrangement: What is Qimen Dunjia?
"Qimen Dunjia" is an ancient Chinese divination work, and it is the first of the three great treasures of the Qimen, Liu Ren, and Taiyi. It is the first of the three styles, with the most rational and methodical system, and is called the highest level of divination by the Huanglao Taoists, known as the "royal learning" or the "highest divination science". The founder is Jiutian Xuannü. Its essence is a high-level astronomical physics that reveals the effects of the eight planets in the solar system and the Earth's magnetic field. "Qi" refers to the Three Qi, namely Yi, Bing, and Ding. "Men" refers to the Eight Doors, namely "Kai, Xiu, Sheng, Shang, Du, Jing, Si, and Jing."
The term "Dunjia" refers to the six Jia months, which are hidden within the six Yis, namely "Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, and Gui." When "Qimen Dunjia" was first created, there were a total of 4,320 patterns. Later, it was improved to 1,080 patterns. During the Zhou Dynasty, Jiang Shang compressed it into 72 patterns for the needs of military deployment. After Zhang Liang received the teachings from Huangshi Gong in the Han Dynasty, it was reformed again and became the current Yin Dun Nine Patterns and Yang Dun Nine Patterns, totaling 18 patterns. From this, we can see that "Qimen Dunjia" is the result of the joint research of many generations of ancient Chinese people. It includes astronomy, calendar studies, military science, strategy, philosophy, etc. Nowadays, "Qimen Dunjia" is usually referred to simply as "Qimen," "Qimen Dun," or "Dunjia." There is a folk saying, "Learn Qimen Dunjia, no need to ask about visitors." Today, Qimen Dunjia can be applied in many aspects such as marriage, career, business, feng shui, wealth, prediction, adjustment, elimination, and planning.
Qimen Dunjia has two types: the theoretical Qimen and the magical Qimen. There is a false legend that "Qimen Dunjia" is a cultivation technique. It is said that Qimen Dunjia originated from the arrangement of troops on the battlefield.
The basic framework of Qimen Dunjia reflects various aspects of society at that time, such as people's affairs, life, social systems, astronomy, geography, and climate.
