The Four Transformation Stars (Four Stars of Change) in Ziwei Dou Shu:
In the Ziwei Dou Shu, there is an important concept called the "Four Transformation Stars". Each person's fate chart will have four transformation stars: the Star of Wealth (Hua Lu), the Star of Power (Hua Quan), the Star of Academic Excellence (Hua Ke), and the Star of Misfortune (Hua Ji). These are known as the Four Transformation Stars. They are derived from the stem of the year and evolve from the nature of various stars. For example, in the year of Jia, the four transformation stars are: Lianzhen transforms into wealth, Pojun transforms into power, Wuyu transforms into academic excellence, and Taiyang transforms into misfortune. The four transformation stars vary depending on the stem of the year (as shown in the table below). Generally speaking, Hua Lu mainly represents wealth or enjoyment; Hua Quan indicates power or performance; Hua Ke refers to reputation; and Hua Ji indicates difficulties. The Hua Ke star belongs to the water element, resides in the Eastern Zhen Palace, symbolizes spring, the birth of all things, and the flourishing of civilization. Therefore, later generations associate it with the wood element. It is the deity that governs literary and academic pursuits, such as exams. Its symbolic meaning includes reputation, academic achievements, benevolent people, education, promotion, growth, development, smooth progress, intelligence, fame, reputation, influence, erudition, assistance, legitimacy, amicability, information, and messages. Its main significance lies in enhancing reputation and influence.
Strong: Chou (not afraid of evil stars). Prosperous: Wu and Shen (not afraid of evil stars). Suitable place: Chen, Xu, Mao (beneficial but wary of gathering evil stars). Advantageous: Yin, Si, Wei (beneficial slowly but wary of evil stars). Average: Hai and Zi. Not suitable place: You. In the weak state of empty space, the ten-day cycle, empty disaster, Yangtuo, Sun and Moon.
The Hua Ke star is absolutely beneficial for a happy mood and affects one's reputation, but it only becomes real when the main stars are auspicious. It represents reputation, good relationships, benevolent people, academic achievements, and nobility. It is favorable for being strong and prosperous, and unfavorable for being dead or exhausted. Auspicious stars in auspicious positions bring auspicious results, while inauspicious stars in inauspicious positions bring inauspicious results. It is most favorable to meet Kuiyue, which makes a person intelligent, eloquent, handsome, and successful in exams, achieving early success, promoting to higher positions, gaining fame, becoming wealthy and renowned. It is most feared to meet Kongjie, empty space, and the ten-day cycle, leading to loneliness, adverse academic achievements, unappreciated talents, and false fame with poverty. However, those engaged in philosophy or five arts may find it auspicious. It is also feared to meet the stars of death, destruction, Liang, Tan, Ji, consumption, death, and bath, which lead to adverse academic achievements and reputation, even legal troubles or disasters. When combined with evil stars and obstacles, studying all one's life brings no academic achievements, and risks of legal disputes or disasters, with a bad reputation spreading far and wide.
When it guards the fate and body, one is easygoing, simple, refined, and elegant, with depth, loves face, and plans work well; smart, eager to learn, articulate, with talent in literature and art, with a good social reputation. If the star it transforms into is strong and prosperous, and the three sectors are accompanied by power and wealth or Kuiyue, without evil stars or obstacles interfering, great wealth and honor can be achieved. When entering weak palaces or encountering evil stars, it is like a seed that does not blossom, empty and insubstantial, but even if poor, one can become a scholar and serve as a teacher. It is not favorable to meet Hua Ji, which leads to high reputation and thus jealousy, defamation. When encountering similar circumstances in the period, the same applies. For women, if the transformation star is strong and prosperous without damage, and auspicious stars are present, she can become a noble lady. If she is accompanied by power and wealth, it is even better. If it is strong but meets evil stars, it is a beautiful but imperfect situation, and even if rich and honored, there may still be indulgence in desires. If it is in a weak position, it is not auspicious, and adding evil stars leads to poverty and immorality; meeting Kuiyue means having private affairs or secret relationships.
