Qimen Dunjia Origin:

Regarding the origin of Qimen Dunjia, many ancient texts such as "Secretly Stored General Transformation Six Yin Cave Deep Mystical Jia Zhen Jing," "The Biography of the Yellow Emperor," "The Divine Mechanism to Subdue the White Tiger's Shadow," and "Song of Fishing in the Mist" have recorded it. According to these records, it is said that when Chiyou caused chaos, the Yellow Emperor was unable to defeat him repeatedly. The Nine Heavens Xuan Nv taught the Yellow Emperor the Qimen Dunjia technique, helping him to defeat Chiyou. Therefore, it can be inferred that Qimen Dunjia has a history of more than five thousand years.
"The Yellow Emperor" can be said to be the first leader of the primitive society who used military force to unify Central China. The war between the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou is recorded in Sima Qian's "Records of the Grand Historian": "All the feudal lords submitted to the Yellow Emperor, but Chiyou created turmoil and did not follow the emperor's command. Thus, the Yellow Emperor mobilized the feudal lords and fought Chiyou on the plains of Zhuolu, eventually capturing and killing Chiyou.
Afterward, those who were not obedient were subdued by the Yellow Emperor, and those who were pacified were released." Sima Qian was a historian, but he also had great interest in star observation, divination, and other mathematical arts, as well as worship of gods. In the "Records of the Grand Historian," he dedicated two chapters to the study of divination techniques, "The Biography of the Day Master" and "The Biography of the Tortoise Shell." However, when describing the war between the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou, there was no trace of mythological tone.
The Yellow Emperor unified Central China through warfare, and is considered the first military commander in Chinese history. Later people attributed the invention of Qimen Dunjia to the fame of the Yellow Emperor, with the aim of elevating Qimen Dunjia to a technique for governing the country, arranging military formations, and so on.
Historically, the earliest record of "Qimen Dunjia" should be from "Baopuzi." Ge Hong's account of the Jia technique in "Baopuzi" is nearly a century earlier than that recorded in the "Book of the Later Han." Combined with the various names listed in the "Sui Shu · Jingji Zhi" for the Jia books, it can be determined that Ge Hong was the first person to publicly disclose the Qimen Dunjia technique in history. Ge Hong played an important role in spreading the Qimen Dunjia technique.
These historical records and legends can illustrate that the Qimen Dunjia technique was not created by one person, but rather the result of generations of people's collective creation. It contains the philosophical wisdom of the nation, the theory of calendars, the view of the universe and society, astronomical knowledge, military science, and strategy. These records and legends also tell us that due to the rule of ancient feudal emperors, the Qimen Dunjia technique was only in the hands of a few people for a long time after its creation.
Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening-up, ordinary people can also study Qimen Dunjia. The popularity of learning Qimen Dunjia has led to its rapid development, and people now have a more scientific, objective, and neutral way of understanding and studying this academic discipline.
The initial application of Qimen Dunjia in modern society is prediction, while the advanced application is to resolve and plan.
