How to Arrange the Ten-Year Luck Cycle Properly?
Published: 2018/08/23   Author: fish   Source: network
The fate is not fixed, and in the study of Chinese metaphysics, there is a saying that five years make a small fortune cycle and ten years make a major fortune cycle. How should the major fortune cycle of ten years be calculated? Naturally, the fate varies for people born at different times. The eight characters (Ba Zi) can predict a person's fate, and the Ba Zi divination special topic on Huayi Network will help you understand your own fate!

How to calculate the ten-year major fortune cycle?

Ten-Year Major Fortune Explanation
In the Ba Zi system, one major fortune cycle lasts for ten years, hence it is called the ten-year major fortune.
A person's destiny, then their fortune, then the feng shui, then accumulated virtues, and then education. Here, the "fortune" refers to the major fortune, which has an impact second only to the person's fate itself.
The transition between major fortunes or small fortune cycles is known as the "Jiaoyun" time. Why should we pay attention to this time? Because each period of fortune has different heavenly stems and earthly branches, meaning that the Five Elements environment in which a person finds themselves during each period is different. When moving from the old environment to the new one, there is an adaptation process. If this process is not handled well, some unusual things may happen. This is like changing jobs. After being in the same job for a long time, one becomes familiar with the work and colleagues, feeling comfortable. Suddenly moving to a new workplace, where the work and people are unfamiliar, one needs to be cautious. If the adaptation is not good, one might feel passive, just like people say, "start off well" and "take off well." Therefore, this day is like the first day of the lunar new year, and if it is not auspicious, the whole year may not go smoothly. Similarly, if the day of entering the major fortune is not auspicious, the next ten years may also be unsmooth.
To calculate the start time of the major fortune, one starts from the birth date and time. For males born in a yang year and females born in a yin year, the calculation proceeds forward; for males born in a yin year and females born in a yang year, the calculation proceeds backward. (Note: Yang years and yin years are determined by the heavenly stem: Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, and Ren are yang years; Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, and Gui are yin years). Forward calculation means counting from the birth date and time until the next seasonal change. Count the number of days and hours, then convert three days into one year, one day into four months, and one hour into five days. This way, the exact time of entering the major fortune can be calculated. The reverse calculation is different in that it counts backward from the birth date and time to the previous seasonal change. The rest of the method is exactly the same as the forward calculation. For example, a male born on the fifth day of the eleventh month in the year of Ji Wu (Jia Wu), at the wei hour. Since this is a yang year and a male, the calculation proceeds forward from the birth date and time to the next seasonal change. According to the data, the Major Snow season in the year of Jia Wu falls on the fourteenth day of the eleventh month at the zi hour. From the fifth day at the wei hour, count forward to the fourteenth day at the zi hour, which is eight days and five hours. Converting three days into one year gives two years and 290 days, which is approximately three full years minus 70 days. The correct expression would be: every year with the heavenly stem of Ding or Ren, on August 25th at the wei hour, the person enters the new major fortune and leaves the old one. The term "jiaotuo" refers to the transition from the old major fortune to the new one. Another example: a female born on the twenty-sixth day of the third month in the year of Bing Wu, at the chen hour. Since this is a yang year and a female, the calculation proceeds backward. According to the calculation, the person enters the new major fortune and leaves the old one every year with the heavenly stem of Jia or Ji, on August 26th at the chen hour.
Method of Calculating Ten-Year Major Fortunes
The method of calculating major fortunes: for yang males and yin females, the calculation proceeds forward; for yin males and yang females, it proceeds backward. Generally, eight major fortunes are calculated, since each major fortune cycle lasts for ten years, and eight major fortunes cover eighty years, which is considered a long life. Here is an example of calculating eight major fortunes:
A male born in the year of Geng Xu and the month of Ji Mao. As this is a yang year and a male, his major fortunes are: Geng Chen, Xin Si, Ren Wu, Gui Wei, Jia Shen, Yi You, Bing Xu, Ding Hai.
A female born in the year of Geng Xu and the month of Ji Mao. As this is a yang year and a female, her major fortunes are: Wu Yin, Ding Chou, Bing Zi, Yi Hai, Jia Xu, Gui You, Ren Shen, Xing Wei.
A male born in the year of Ding You and the month of Jia Chen. As this is a yin year and a male, his major fortunes are: Gui Mao, Ren Yin, Xin Chou, Geng Zi, Ji Hai, Wu Xu, Ding You, Bing Shen.
A female born in the year of Ding You and the month of Jia Chen. As this is a yin year and a female, her major fortunes are: Yi Si, Bing Wu, Ding Wei, Wu Shen, Ji You, Geng Xu, Xin Hai, Ren Zi.
Starting Age for Major Fortunes: The calculation of the starting age for major fortunes is based on three days equaling one year, i.e., one day equals four months, and one hour equals five days.
In traditional calculations, the time for entering and transitioning into a major fortune was calculated based on each solar term lasting fifteen days, i.e., 360 days per year, which does not match the actual solar year of 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds. Therefore, there must be some errors. Today, many fortune tellers calculate the transition time based on how many days and hours after a certain solar term, but this is still not accurate.
The accurate method of calculation is: 365.242194 / 360 = 1.01456165. The number of days and hours calculated according to the ancient method should be multiplied by 1.01456165 to obtain more accurate results.
Fortune Cycle of Ten Years - Good and Bad Years
The Ba Zi analysis of the major fortune cycle determines whether the ten-year fortune is good or bad. In previous books, it was said that each major fortune cycle is divided into the heavenly stem and earthly branch, each governing a certain number of years. It was commonly believed that the heavenly stem governs the first five years, and the earthly branch governs the last five years. There is another theory stating that because the major fortune cycle is especially concerned with the earthly branch, some say the heavenly stem governs four years while the earthly branch governs six years, others say the heavenly stem governs three years and the earthly branch seven years. However, all these are incorrect. In the Ba Zi analysis, since the major fortune cycle starts from the month's ruler, the next month's ruler is calculated in the forward direction, and the previous month's ruler is calculated in the backward direction. The heavenly stem and earthly branch of the month's ruler govern the affairs of that month, and there is no concept of the heavenly stem governing the first half of the month and the earthly branch governing the second half. Then, is there a reason to separate the heavenly stem and earthly branch, each governing several years when they are used for the major fortune cycle? Therefore, it is correct that the heavenly stem and earthly branch together govern ten years.
If the heavenly stem and earthly branch have balanced energy, and they mutually support each other, then their power is the same. If the heavenly stem overpowers the earthly branch, the heavenly stem's energy is stronger than the earthly branch's. If the earthly branch overpowers the heavenly stem, the earthly branch's energy is stronger than the heavenly stem's. From the perspective of the person, if both the heavenly stem and earthly branch are favorable elements, then the entire ten years of the major fortune are auspicious. If both are unfavorable elements, then the entire ten years are dangerous. If one is favorable and the other is unfavorable, then the ten years are equally divided between good and bad. This principle is most accurate.
However, when analyzing the good or bad years of the major fortune, it is easier to evaluate the heavenly stem, but harder to evaluate the earthly branch. The heavenly stem is straightforward: Jia is Jia, Yi is Yi. However, the earthly branch contains various hidden energies, and each must be carefully studied and analyzed. For example, when entering the Wu (Mao) major fortune, if the original chart contains Jia, Bing, or Wu, one should first determine which heavenly stem corresponds to the energy revealed by the earthly branch. If the heavenly stem is Jia, then the major fortune is purely wood. If the heavenly stem is Bing, then the major fortune is mostly fire. If the heavenly stem is Wu, then the major fortune is half earth. The same logic applies to other earthly branches. Additionally, the relationship between the heavenly stem and the original chart's stems and branches is clear, focusing only on the mutual generation and overcoming. However, the relationship between the earthly branch and the original chart's stems and branches involves more complex interactions such as mutual confrontation, union, punishment, and harm, making it difficult to distinguish quickly.
