The concept of fortune is something invisible and intangible, yet it genuinely influences our lives. How to explain the "great luck" in the Eight Characters (Ba Zi)? In traditional Chinese astrology, it is believed that everyone's fate is determined at birth. How can we understand our own fate? The Ba Zi special section on Huayi Network Eight Character Fortune Telling will guide you to understand the hidden fate behind your birth time and date!

How to interpret the great luck in the Eight Characters?

At the moment of birth, a person's Four Pillars of Destiny (Four Characters) are already fixed. So is the "luck." When arranging the great luck, one can know that after the Four Characters are set and the gender of the person is determined, the luck is also fixed. Therefore, luck belongs to the category of innate feng shui. To arrange the great luck, it is first necessary to distinguish between yin years and yang years. Years with the stem as Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, and Ren are considered yang years, while those with the stem as Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, and Gui are considered yin years. If a boy is born in a yang year or a girl is born in a yin year, the great luck should be arranged in the forward direction. Conversely, if a boy is born in a yin year or a girl is born in a yang year, the great luck should be arranged in the reverse direction. Fortune consists of two words: "Ming" and "Yun." "Ming" is static, meaning it is inherent from birth and cannot be changed. "Yun" is dynamic, representing the trajectory of postnatal life. Although "Ming" is the same for everyone, "Yun" differs. This is why people often say, "good fate but bad luck" or "bad fate but good luck." For example, even though an object may have poor quality and small weight, if its journey is very favorable, it can be said to have both good fate and good luck, or bad fate but good luck. The great luck of a person changes every ten years, which gives rise to the saying, "ten years east of the river, ten years west of the river." A person must know when they are experiencing good luck and when they are facing bad luck, in order to seek benefits and avoid disasters. When a person is experiencing prosperity in wealth and official career, it means he has finally reached the peak after relentless efforts, feeling the joy of looking down upon all mountains and enjoying the view of nature. However, no one can stay at the top forever. At this point, no matter which direction he goes, it is downhill, i.e., entering the decline phase. When a person is in a low point in life, going either way leads uphill, getting higher and higher, i.e., entering the lucky phase. This is the principle of finding hope in desperate situations. So, how do we calculate the great luck? The Four Pillars determine destiny, and the great luck determines the trajectory of life. Only by combining the two can we know the auspiciousness or misfortune in a person's life. Great luck is determined based on the month pillar of the Four Pillars. There are differences between men and women, and the calculation of the starting age also varies accordingly. The method for arranging great luck is: for males born in a yang year and females born in a yin year, the great luck is arranged in the forward direction. For females born in a yang year and males born in a yin year, it is arranged in the reverse direction. Usually, eight steps of great luck are arranged. For example, a male born in the year of Geng Xu and the month of Ji Mao would have the following great luck: Geng Chen, Xin Si, Ren Wu, Gui Wei, Jia Shen, Yi You, Bing Xu, Ding Hai. A female born in the year of Geng Xu and the month of Ji Mao would have the following great luck: Wu Yin, Ding Chou, Bing Zi, Yi Hai, Jia Xu, Gui You, Ren Shen, Xing Wei. A male born in the year of Ding You and the month of Jia Chen would have the following great luck: Gui Mao, Ren Yin, Xin Chou, Geng Zi, Ji Hai, Wu Xu, Ding You, Bing Shen. A female born in the year of Ding You and the month of Jia Chen would have the following great luck: Yi Si, Bing Wu, Ding Liu, Wu Shen, Ji You, Geng Xu, Xin Hai, Ren Zi. The calculation of the starting age for great luck is as follows: three days equal one year, so one day equals four months, and one hour equals five days. For instance, if the total number of days to start the great luck is 18 days, divided by 3, it equals 6, meaning the great luck starts at the age of 6.
