We are introducing the "earth element" here, which does not refer to the Five Elements of the Nayan system, but refers to the "use god" (Yong Shen) in the Chinese traditional Eight Characters (Ba Zi). The "use god" is a specialized term in the Chinese traditional four pillars (Si Zhu) prediction system. It specifically refers to the heavenly stem or earthly branch used to compensate for the deficiencies in the Eight Characters.
