When discussing the concept of fate in traditional culture, we often encounter terms such as "Qi Sha Nv" (Seven Killer Woman) and "Guangong" (Guan Yu). This article will analyze the weight of weapons used by Lu Zhishen from "Water Margin" and Guan Yu to explain three concepts in the Eight Characters (Ba Zi) fortune-telling: "Shen Qiang Sha Qian" (Strong Body with Weak Seven Killer), "Sha Qiang Shen Qian" (Strong Seven Killer with Weak Body), and "Shen Sha Liang Ting" (Balanced Body and Seven Killer), revealing the art of balance in fate.

Shen Qiang Sha Qian and Sha Qiang Shen Qian
In the theory of Ba Zi, "Shen Qiang Sha Qian" and "Sha Qiang Shen Qian" describe the relationship between the strength of the body (the person's core element) and the seven killer (a specific element representing challenges or adversity). When the strength of the seven killer exceeds that of the body, it is called "Sha Qiang Shen Qian." Conversely, when the body is stronger than the seven killer, it is known as "Shen Qiang Sha Qian." This contrast reflects the person's ability to control the seven killer, which determines the quality of their fate. Just like Sun Wukong's golden staff weighing 13,500 jin, it is a convenient weapon for the Monkey King but too heavy for Guan Yu to handle, resulting in a "Sha Qiang Shen Qian" situation.
The Ideal State of Shen Sha Liang Ting
In the theory of Ba Zi, "Shen Sha Liang Ting" refers to a state where the strength of the body and the seven killer are balanced, forming a state of equal power. In this condition, the seven killer does not harm the body, and the body does not harm the seven killer. The noble energy of the seven killer is maximized, making it the most ideal fate pattern. As mentioned in "San Ming Tong Hui": "Combat is auspicious when both sides are evenly matched; only when they constrain each other can honor be achieved," emphasizing the importance of balance. In the state of "Shen Sha Liang Ting," there is a relative equilibrium between the body and the seven killer, maximizing the noble energy, making it the best choice in the theory of fate.
The Metaphor of Weapons in Fate
Using the metaphor of weapons, we can better understand the concepts of "Shen Qiang Sha Qian" and "Sha Qiang Shen Qian." If Sun Wukong uses Guan Yu's Green Dragon Crescent Blade, although it would cause no harm, it would be of little use, which represents "Shen Qiang Sha Qian." On the contrary, if Guan Yu were to use Sun Wukong's golden staff, he would not only be unable to use it but might also suffer harm, which is "Sha Qiang Shen Qian." Only when the seven killer and the body form a relatively balanced state can the noble energy be maximized, which is "Shen Sha Liang Ting."

Through the discussion of "Qi Sha Nv and Guangong," we have come to understand that the balance between the body and the seven killer in the theory of Ba Zi is crucial. Whether it is "Shen Qiang Sha Qian" or "Sha Qiang Shen Qian," neither is an ideal state. However, "Shen Sha Liang Ting" represents a state of balanced power, where noble energy is maximized. Through this art of balance, we can better understand the deeper meanings of fate theory and how to seek balance and harmony in real life.
